Because my son was beginning to resemble a fuzzy lollipop with his large fluffy head and tiny body, and because my daughter was sporting Hasidic curls, a mullet, and an old-man do all at the same time, I decided it was time for a trip to get haircuts.
I realize that my daughter is only 4 months old, but since this is about the same age Justus had his first haircut it’s not exactly out of left field.
So off to Kids Hair Safari we went!
It was Justus’ turn first. This is (obviously) not his first rodeo but because we are spoiled and his Aunt Jessie usually cuts his hair in the kitchen, it was my first time to take him to the salon in quite awhile.
We lowered his ears with a minimum amount of whimpering from him (getting to “drive” a car and watch cartoons helped) and then it was sister’s turn.
They always look at me like I’m a little crazy when I bring in a child so young.
“What do you want me to do exactly?” the stylist asked.
“I think just even it all out,” I told her.
“It’ll be short.”
“I know,” I replied with a smile.
T did such a great job! She didn’t cry once (maybe a couple small screams but that’s just because she learned to make a new, very loud noise and she thinks it’s a blast to do.)
After the haircuts we headed to the prairie dog park (one of our favorites) and when we got there we had the whole place to ourselves! A whole hour and not a single other person showed up. It was great fun and then we all headed home for lunch and naps.
The next morning was Thalia’s four month check-up. For the record, she’s doing just grand and she handled her shots like a champ.
